His campaign says North Carolina governor contender Josh Stein raised $5.7M since July.

North Carolina gubernatorial candidate Josh Stein raised more than $5.7 million in the previous six months, his campaign claimed Thursday. This should put him at or near the top of 2024 gubernatorial donation reports.

Stein's group announced their second-half 2023 campaign financial report expectations.

The Josh Stein for North Carolina campaign raised $5.98 million in the first half of 2023, the most of any stated gubernatorial contender.

His campaign committee reported Thursday that it had about $11.5 million in cash entering the new year and has raised nearly $17 million since early 2021.

A Stein news release calls his 2023 fundraising and cash on hand record-breaking. By Jan. 26, Stein, the attorney general, and other gubernatorial candidates must submit their numbers to the State Board of Elections.

Stein campaign manager Jeff Allen stated in the announcement that “people from across North Carolina are helping to build Josh's campaign because they believe in his vision for a safer, stronger North Carolina.”

Stein filed for governor in January 2023 with the support of incumbent Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper, who is term-limited. The Democratic nomination competition includes former state Supreme Court Associate Justice Mike Morgan, who entered in September. Gary Foxx, Marcus W. Williams, and Chrelle Booker all entered the March 5 Democratic primary

Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, attorney Bill Graham, and State Treasurer Dale Folwell are March GOP candidates. Robinson led Republican fundraising until June 30. Graham claimed in October he would spend “at least $5 million of his own resources” on his campaign. Libertarian Party primaries exist. A Green Party candidate will run in the general election
